Apple's 'Welcome Home' Event Is Two Days Away — HomeView Takes Center Stage

Apple's big smart-home moment arrives Tuesday — and this time the company is going all in.

At its "Welcome home" experience in New York on October 13, Apple is expected to unveil HomeView, its first dedicated smart-home hub, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The name surfaced in a trademark filing discovered by MacRumors, and Gurman has now fleshed out the details in his Power On newsletter.

The device pairs a touch display with an A18 chip, and it will come in two versions: a countertop model with a metal speaker base — reportedly styled a bit like the classic iMac G4, with a floating display over a speaker — and a wall-mounted version with a flat, square base. The tabletop model is expected in four finishes (space gray, silver, starlight, and pink), while the wall-mounted version will be limited to gray and silver. Gurman says the tabletop version will sound better than the new HomePod mini.

Voice is the point. Siri AI sits at the center of the experience, and the "view" in HomeView is said to reflect how the device is meant to be used: a display you look at from across the room and control primarily with your voice, though the screen supports touch. It will run a limited selection of Apple apps, but there will be no dedicated App Store — third-party functionality may come via iPhone widgets instead.

The reveal will not mean immediate availability. While HomeView will be unveiled on Tuesday, Gurman reports it will not ship until around mid-November — after the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2, which are expected to reach customers on October 30.

Those companions matter. The new Apple TV 4K is said to carry an A19 chip with 8 gigabytes of memory and possibly built-in microphones for Siri AI, while the HomePod mini 2 moves from the aging S5 chip to the S10 from the Apple Watch Series 10 and gains new colors. Alongside them, Apple is introducing an "Apple Home Collection" of accessories built with partners: LG is developing a smart doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor, and indoor, outdoor, and floodlight cameras (though LG's products will not ship until later in 2026 at the earliest), while Schneider Electric is working on energy devices for Europe. Matter and Thread support should keep the new gear compatible with a wider range of existing accessories.

More than a decade after launching HomeKit, Apple remains a laggard in the smart home — a category Amazon and Google defined years ago. HomeView is the company's attempt to finally make the home a first-class Apple experience, with Siri AI as the connective tissue. Whether a delayed ship date dampens the launch momentum is worth watching; the mid-November window gives Apple a few extra weeks to polish the software. Pricing and availability details should come Tuesday.
